The documents required depend on the business or type of GST registration process. For example, a sole proprietor/ individual, a partnership firm, and a company must procure different types of documents for registration. Different types of documents requires to submit on GST portal for GST registration depending upon the type of GST registration

The term ‘person’ means a person who carries on any business at any place in India and who is registered or required to be registered under the GST Act.  The term ‘Person’ here includes:

  • individuals,
  • HUF,
  • company,
  • firm,
  • LLP,
  • an AOP/ BOI,
  • any corporation or Government company,
  • body corporate incorporated under laws of foreign country,
  • co-operative society,
  • local authority,
  • government,
  • trust,
  • artificial juridical person.

The following documents requires to obtain GST registration depending on the types of business or constitution.

Documents required for – Sole proprietor / Individual

  1. PAN card of the owner
  2. Aadhar card of the owner
  3. Photograph of the owner (in JPEG format, maximum size – 100 KB)
  4. Bank account details:  For bank account details, a copy of cancelled cheque or extract of passbook/bank statement (containing the first and last page) must be uploaded.  (in JPEG format / PDF format, maximum size – 100 KB)
  5. Address proof:  Upload any one of the following documents:
    • Property tax receipt
    • Municipal Khata copy
    • Electricity bill copy
    • Ownership deed/document (in the case of owned property)
    • Lease / rent agreement (in case of leased / rented property) – Should submit along with (1), (2) or (3)
    • Consent letter / NOC from the owner (in case of consent arrangement or shared property) – Should submit along with (1), (2) or (3)

Documents required for – Partnership firm including LLP

  1. PAN card of all partners (including managing partner and authorized signatory)
  2. Copy of partnership deed
  3. Photograph of all partners and authorized signatories (in JPEG format, maximum size – 100 KB)
  4. Address proof of partners (Passport, driving license, Voters identity card, Aadhar card etc.)
  5. Aadhar card of authorised signatory
  6. Proof of appointment of authorized signatory
  7. In the case of LLP, registration certificate / Board resolution of LLP
  8. Bank account details : For bank account details, a copy of cancelled cheque or extract of passbook/bank statement (containing the first and last page) must be uploaded.  (in JPEG format / PDF format, maximum size – 100 KB)
  9. Address proof of principal place of business : Upload any one of the following documents:
    • Property tax receipt
    • Municipal Khata copy
    • Electricity bill copy
    • Ownership deed/document (in the case of owned property)
    • Lease / rent agreement (in case of leased / rented property) –Should submit along with (1), (2) or (3)
    • Consent letter / NOC from the owner (in case of consent arrangement or shared property) –Should submit along with (1), (2) or (3)

Documents required for – HUF 

  1. PAN card of HUF
  2. PAN card and Aadhar card of Karta
  3. Photograph of the owner (in JPEG format, maximum size – 100 KB)
  4. Bank account details : For bank account details, a copy of cancelled cheque or extract of passbook/bank statement (containing the first and last page) must be uploaded.  (in JPEG format / PDF format, maximum size – 100 KB)
  5. Address proof of principal place of business : Upload any one of the following documents:

Documents required for – Company (Public and Private) (Indian and foreign)

  1. PAN card of Company
  2. Certificate of incorporation given by Ministry of Corporate Affairs
  3. Memorandum of Association / Articles of Association
  4. PAN card and Aadhar card of authorized signatory. The authorised signatory must be an Indian even in case of foreign companies/branch registration
  5. PAN card and address proof of all directors of the Company
  6. Photograph of all directors and authorised signatory (in JPEG format, maximum size – 100 KB)
  7. Board resolution appointing authorised signatory / Any other proof of appointment of authorised signatory (in JPEG format / PDF format, maximum size – 100 KB)
  8. Bank account details : For bank account details, a copy of cancelled cheque or extract of passbook/bank statement (containing the first and last page) must be uploaded.  (in JPEG format / PDF format, maximum size – 100 KB)
  9. Address proof of principal place of business : Upload any one of the following documents:
    • Property tax receipt
